WHY I AM VOTING YES ON PROP 8
"The institution of marriage was not created by government and it should not be redefined by government."-- Mitt Romney

On November 4th, YOU will have the opportunity to vote, once again, on the definition of marriage. The deeper I have studied Proposition 8, the more I realize the lasting effects it will have on our families, our societies and our nation. This is why I would like to share five reasons why I AM VOTING YES ON PROPOSITION 8:
1. TO PROTECT MY CHILDREN AND MY PARENTAL RIGHTS - If proposition 8 does not pass, children in public schools will be taught that traditional marriage and homosexual marriage are equal and that marriage is simply between any two adults regardless of gender. Teachers will no longer be able to use the term “Mother and Father” when discussing families. In health and sex education, they will be taught how sexual relationships function between partners. In Massachusetts where same-sex marriage has been legalized, parents are not even allowed to opt their kids out in elementary school when being taught same-sex marriage and lifestyle issues. PARENTS' RIGHTS ARE LOST. Whether you agree or not, parents should have the right to raise their own children according to their own beliefs. There will be serious clashes between the secular school system and the right of parents to teach their children their own values and beliefs. Please check out the following link: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/?pageId=77373.

2. TO PROTECT MY FREEDOM OF RELIGION – If Proposition 8 does not pass, religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their long-held right to place children in accordance with their religious beliefs. Catholic Charities in Boston already closed their doors in Massachusetts because courts legalized same-sex marriage there. They were being pressured by the same sex marriage law to grant adoption to same sex couples. It went against their beliefs and their freedom of religion and therefore discontinued their adoption services. Also, the California Supreme Court ruled that fertility doctors and clinics may not refuse treatment to homosexuals based on religious objections. The decision declared that it violates the state's anti-discrimination laws to deny fertility treatment to homosexuals simply because the doctor is Christian. An actual case right here in Southern California involves two lesbians in Oceanside who sought insemination at a local fertility clinic. During their initial meeting with doctors, they were told that the clinic would not be able to assist them. Instead, they were referred to other doctors whose conscience would not be violated by inseminating a homosexual couple. The couple was able to receive treatment from another doctor and gave birth to a child as a result. Despite their successful pregnancy under the care of another doctor, the couple retaliated by suing the Christian doctors, citing California's anti-discrimination laws. The doctors lost. The issue is that our religious and moral beliefs will be stamped out because of this law.

3. TO PROTECT MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH – If Proposition 8 doesn’t pass, minister’s, or any of us for that matter, who preach or speak out against same-sex marriages may be sued for hate speech and risk government fines. It already happened in Canada, a country that legalized gay marriage. A recent California court held that municipal employees may not say: “traditional marriage,” or “family values” because, after the same-sex marriage case, it is considered “hate speech.”

4. TO PROTECT MY TAX DOLLARS - If Proposition 8 doesn’t pass, it will cost ALL of us money. Tax exemption status could be changed for religious groups and charities who do not want to ‘uphold the law’. This change in the definition of marriage will also bring a cascade of changing governmental forms and procedures, school books and curriculum changes, an increase in lawsuits, and changes in the workplace. Think of your hard earned money that will be spent on such legal battles.

5. TO REDEFINE MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN - Some will try to tell you that Yes on Proposition 8 takes away legal rights of gay domestic partnerships. THAT IS FALSE! YES on Proposition 8 DOES NOT take away ANY of those rights and DOES NOT interfere with homosexuals living the lifestyle they choose. Their rights to have civil unions and live together and have tax breaks, etc. WILL NOT change. Under California law, “domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections, and benefits” as married spouses. Their union is just not called “marriage.” YES on Proposition 8 is NOT an attack against those who have same gender attraction. It’s about standing up for our own moral beliefs, our freedom of religion, and freedom of speech that this great Nation offers each of us. While homosexuals have the right to their private lives, they do not have the right to redefine marriage for everyone else.
On November 4TH, Please join me in Voting YES ON Proposition 8 which will….
RESTORE the definition of marriage that was approved in 2000 by over 61% of voters “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”
· Overturn the decision of four activist judges, sending a message to these judges that they can’t take it upon themselves to change the voice of the people!
· Protect our children, our freedom of religion and our freedom of speech.
· Settle it once and for all! Think of all the unintended consequences that we cannot even foresee at this time. Where will it end? What will be next? Who will want to marry who going forward?

I understand that because of your religion you believe that marriage should be between a man and a women... but honestly there are a LOT more important issues that need your attention instead of focusing on something that has no part in your life what so ever. Mormons are the biggest contributor to the "yes on Prop 8" notion, a whopping 35% .... that money could have gone to third world countries in need or helping the people in our own communities. Everyone is free to their own opinion, so shouldn't that mean for "gays" as well? We have the right to free will...if you take that right away doesn't that make you support the plan of Lucifer? You can't say you relate to people who choose to have same sex mates because you don't know anyone who does. I don't undertand why there is so much hate going towards people who are just as much God's children as you are. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I'm only wanting to point out that no matter who or what you are discriminating against, it's not your job to judge and should instead focus daily on the things YOU can do to improve your way of life. Once you die and go to heaven, you'll have your eternal salvation and will get your own planet and be able to play God, but until then live with tolerance for others. Because this hate is getting us nowhere.

Vanessa,
It's not about hate at all. It's about "Standing For Truth and Righteousness". Homosexuals started this by squeaky loudly enough till they got oiled. Now, we are fighting back for what is right. Traditional marriage is ordained of God. Homosexuals are trying to make it so that their perversion be accepted as normal. It is not!!! But, that is the rock. What I'm more concerned about are the ripples. If this does not pass it will affect ALL our lives. Talk to the Homosexuals who started this about money being better spent elsewhere. Instead of forcing their lifestyle on all of us, they could have put that $$$ to better use. Again, we are just fighting back. If this does not pass, I will be considered intolerable because I believe as I do. My Bishop could be FORCED to marry a same-sex couple in our church bldg. And I have no doubt that many will want to be married in a Mormon church just to spite us. How is that right? Where is our free will? Where is our choice? We WON"T have the choice to refuse unless we want to be sued or fined. How is that right? There is so much more to Prop 8 than it being about same-sex marriage. It's the consequences/ripples if it doesn't pass that will be harmful. I do not need to smoke, do drugs, drink alchol to know that it's wrong, or do it to be able to relate to those who choose to do so. I don't need to know a same-sex couple to believe that they may truely love one another, or that their feelings are real. It is my personal belief that we are all given different trials to endure in this lifetime. Some deal with losing a child, a sibling, incest, substance abuse, etc., and some have the trial of being attrachted to the same-sex. It's how we endure these trials that are given to us that matters. It's not hate, it's standing up for our beliefs and not wanting those beliefs being considered as "Hate Speech". We all are children of God, and he loves us all. He is tolerable of us all, however, he is not tolerable of the sin.

Also, one bad apple such as the lady you referred to does not represent the whole Republican Party. The same could be said of Democrats or Liberals. Stupid is as stupid does.

Ok, well what about in our constitution which states that every man is equal? This country shouldn't be run on religious principles, that's why it was founded in the first place. Because in this country, you have the right to live your life as you wish. The choice of free will. I DO think that no one should be forced to marry a couple of they do not wish to do so. I think that since they are trying to make this a legal issue and NOT a religious issue they should have these same sex couples go to someone of the law to have it done. No one should be forced to do or not do anything they don't want to.

You know, you say it's not hate, but Mom, you are directly discriminating against a HUGE HUGE amount of people just because YOU don't agree with it. There are other churches in the other religions who are NOT supporting prop 8 because they don't want to turn anyone away. Homosexuality is not a "choice" mom, it's who you are. (granted, there are some who do it for the attention, but they aren't actually considered homosexual then are they?) You believe the way you do because of how you were raised, well what about other people? Not everyone is or was raised like you, so why try to conform everyone to be the same? If God wanted us to be identical, he wouldn't have made us all so different. Our job, as children of god, is to help others despite our differences. Do you honestly think that every gay person is going to go to hell? No. You will be judged on a lot more than who you are having an intimate relationship with. You stated that "they" started this by "squeaking loudly enough till they got oiled" uh mom, how else are you supposed to change something? Of course people are going to fight for the rights that they deserve as human beings. What do you think you are doing by protesting it? Like I said before you are more than entitled to your opinion, I just see myself as a person of the world and not as someone who sees what's immediately in front of me. I had a conversation with Cody on this issue and he has even been talking people out of voting yes. And this is why, it's NOT going to affect you. What about all the people who have gotten married already?? Have you had gays knocking at your door trying to convert you? Oh, no wait that's what Mormons do! Gay people are not trying to "rub it in heterosexuals faces" they are just trying to live their lives just as you do. With the person they love. I will never see that as being wrong.
